iPhone = iEnvy?
by N. Joanna Foor

Ok, it’s official, my doctor confirmed it; I have a bad, bad case of iEnvy. Apple has released the iPhone, a super sexy and sleek James Bond-like phone convergence device (meaning it combines several functions) with a super high-density screen and a multi-touch interface. Its what many of us mere mortals have been wishing and waiting for. The man known as the “Woz” said, “I think this is going to be revolutionary.” Finally, ordinary people can feel young and geeky!

The iPhone is a cell phone, a PDA, a music and video player and an Internet device that can check email and surf the web using wi-fi or AT&T’s Edge network. Is it too good to be true???

So much for all of the hype, what is the iPhone missing?

1. Voice dialing, you can’t do it on the iPhone.
2. Its difficult, if not impossible to sync your PDA data to more than one computer.
3. My biggest pet peeve, it does not sync your PDA To-Do-Lists to your computer.
4. You can’t view Flash applications of Windows Media files on the Internet.
5. The IPhone batteries are hard to replace because they are sealed-in. (Is anyone developing a snap-on battery yet?)

It may be missing a few items from my ultimate 'wish-list', but they all seem minor when it comes down to comparing the iPhone to anything else currently on the market.

Bottom-line? It’s not perfect, but in my opinion, Apple is on the right track, and it’s only the beginning! I might actually have to bring my credit card out of the deep freeze for this one!
